Punctum Inc. coordinates a Live Arts Incubator based in Central Victoria. It provides artists and producers with access to regionally based arts professionals, presentation spaces, and opportunities for the investigation, development, and presentation of live arts – providing artists assistance with funding, research and promotion of their projects.
The live arts incubator program is designed to expand and deepen the potential for artists and the community to participate regionally in the evolution of a substantial long term engagement with live arts practice.
The incubator is available to live arts practitioners at all stages of their career and emphasises strength and diversity of artistic input, community access, and professional production values in the process and presentation of live arts and focuses on providing opportunity in the following four interlinked and fundamental areas:
* artform & professional development
* community and public ownership initiatives
* innovative education initiatives and models
* dynamic partnerships
Through the Live Arts Incubator Punctum offers a diverse and engaging program.
In 2010 the program will consist of seven new and ambitious works through its Seedpod program, will co present four Undue Noise sound and video art events curated by Jacques Soddell, four Drome professional development events curated by video artist and musician Simon Howard and Undue Voice events curated by performance poets. In addition to this the Live Arts Incubator will host several major events including the national Liquid Architecture Festival of sound.
Punctum's main incubator sites are the Intensive Culture Unit (ICU) in Castlemaine and the Old Fire Station (OFS) black box in Bendigo. These spaces are sites to create and produce contemporary live arts – favouring works that emanate from an investigation of practice, experimentation and innovative reinterpretation.
