IS THAT A TRIGGER IN YOUR POCKET...OR A SENSOR?

A Live Arts incubator studio.

1:30 – 5:30 Sunday May 25th at ICU – 1 Halford St. Castlemaine

Thanks to Daniel Armstrong on Punctum’s Peer Squad, Arts Victoria, and Workspace Australia, we’re joyfully throwing open the ICU doors for our first Live Arts professional development studio. Is That a Trigger...?  is a full afternoon media studio/workshop with Ernesto Rios and Tony Falla investigating the use of interactive trigger mechanisms in art.

This Live Arts studio is open to all artists across all art forms who wish to advance their practice and thinking in audience interaction and media.

Ernesto Rios

Ernesto Rios is a Mexican visual artist usually based in New York, but currently in residence as a sessional teacher within the Media Faculty at Deakin University.

Ernesto Rios has a background in fine art and photography and also works with new technologies and multimedia. He holds a Masters degree in Interactive Telecommunications from New York University and has been working with a diverse palette of tools developing his work in drawing, photography, video, animation, interactive art and virtual reality for many years.

Ernesto has shown his work at distinguished galleries and museums in Mexico, Cuba, England and the U.S.A. He has also taught video and animation at acclaimed institutions.

Ernesto will also be presenting work at ICU as part of Undue Noise on Saturday May 24th at 8pm and in the meantime you can see some of Ernesto’s beautiful works via his website:

Tony Falla

 

Tony Falla trained as an engineer with the BBC. After working as Managing Technician in the Psychology Department at the University of Nottingham until 1981, he migrated to Australia. In 1982 Tony worked for Channel 9 special projects and until 1995 was Technical Manager of the School of Arts and Media at La Trobe University.
In 1995 Tony was Technical Manager for Optusvision and established a TV studio for community access to Localvision - a cable television. He now works freelance, is a Macintosh Trainer and support person, a sessional teacher in Music, Media and Multimedia at University level and has worked with younger students in multimedia and animation.

interactive devices) -

Tony Falla: 60 minutes

The gadgets - sensors and triggers and low-tech, low cost examples of how they can be used.
