Brad Spolding is the Director of The SUBSTATION, a multi-art space which presents a curated program of contemporary, experimental art in the western suburbs of Melbourne. Over the past four years, under Brad’s programming, The SUBSTATION has established itself as a leading presenter of contemporary experimental arts practice, facilitating the creation and presentation of new work by some of the best local, national and international artists. Over the last 15 years, Brad has worked as a producer for independent artists and companies including ILBIJERRI Theatre Company, Lucy Guerin Inc, Rising Tide Productions, Back to Back Theatre and Snuff Puppets. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Visual Arts, Graduate Diploma in Arts Management and a Masters of Arts and Community Practice from the University of Melbourne (VCA). He is a board member of Theatre Network Australia and the Macfarlane Fund and an alumni of the Cranlana and Australia Council Leadership programs. In 2017 The SUBSTATION was awarded the Green Room Award for Best Curatorial Contribution for Contemporary & Experimental Performance following the first program under Brad’s direction.
